Nestled into the forested hillside, this earthy and airy home awaits your finishing touches. Listen to the roar of Martin's Creek while you gaze up at the stars with a feeling of accomplishment and pride of ownership.   This nearly 5 acre property has a great deal to offer the right person. It features quiet country living with all the amenities of city life, including internet service (we recently got DSL!) sattelite TV (cable may also be available), Cellular service (there is a US Cellular tower a few miles away). The property also has a septic tank that is approved for the dome, and finally there is a wonderful artesian spring for water. It comes from near the top of the mountain so gravity provides the water pressure. It is the best water you ever tasted! Plus, the water is FREE. Thats great to know when you consider that the city of Asheville just raised its water rates. The property also has a seasonal creek and wonderful views. If you like hiking, there is an old logging road that takes you up to almost the top, or you can blaze your own path through the woods. There are also many varieties of herbs and berries growing wild on the property.

As for the dome itself, it offers a world of possibilities. It is a place where you can let your creative juices flow and customize it however you like.

What it has:
rough-in plumbing in slab, master bath plumbed for double sinks and seperate shower/tub (so you can install a jacuzzi tub if you like), also a second 1/2 bath, an open living area and roomy kitchen, 2 potential bedrooms downstairs and a spacious loft above (with stairs). There is also a large triangle window to place anywhere you please. To see photos of the interior and everything we did please visit the links below.

What it needs:
Insulation (icynene), electric wiring, wall covering, fixtures and cabinets, and whatever other finishing touches your heart desires.

The steep hill would be great for a terraced garden or cantilevered deck. The trailer and shed you see in some of the photos is being removed.

The asking price for this property is $145,000, which is well below the Buncombe County tax value of $156,000. Finishing costs can range from $20,000-$50,000 for the Do-It-Yourselfer and around $60,000-$80,000 if you hire a contractor. Even high-end construction costs place this property on the low-end of the price scale for this area, where properties range from $200,000 to $500,000 and beyond. There is another property  on our road that sold for nearly $1 Million.  I believe the appraisal for if this property was finished came in at $238,000.

This property is great for the person who likes to think- and live- outside the box.
